About Us - 50th Anniversary

Celebrating 50 Years of Bayshore Village.

Bayshore Village, Ontario, began in the early 1970s when A.G. Meharg purchased land at McGinnis Point on Lake Simcoe with a vision of creating a Canadian-style lakeside retirement community. That vision became a reality in 1976, when Bayshore Village was incorporated as a not-for-profit association to represent the interests of its members and to maintain the community's shared assets and amenities.
This year marks 50 years of community engagement, a milestone that reflects decades of dedication to preserving the unique character and vibrant waterfront lifestyle that make Bayshore Village so special.
To celebrate this golden anniversary, a series of special events will take place from April through August 2026. These gatherings will honour our past, celebrate our present, and look ahead to the future of our community. Watch the website and community communications for more details as plans are finalized.
In addition, a curated display of historical photos, documents, articles, and memorabilia from the 1970s and 1980s will be showcased in the Hayloft, offering a glimpse into the early days of Bayshore Village and the people who helped shape it.
We look forward to celebrating this important milestone together and sharing in the stories, memories, and spirit that define Bayshore Village.
