News - Eco Park: Recent Food Drop

It has come to our attention that someone is placing food in the ECO Park – presumably to feed the wild animals.

Our resident experts suggest that this is not a good idea, especially the brittle cooked chicken bones, which could cause harm by piercing the digestive tract of both wild animals and domestic pets.

Wild animals should never be fed human food, as it gives them a taste of many flavours they would never encounter in nature – which means that they will be looking in our garbage for more. In addition, there are many things in our food that an animal may not be able to digest – such as spices, etc.

This has been a very mild winter and there is abundant food in nature. There is no need to feed our wild animals.
