July 1, 2026, was hot and humid, but the weather did not deter people from attending. The morning started off with a good crowd of residents and friends wearing red and white joining together at the Hayloft to socialize. Garfield Dunlop greeted everyone on his daughter Jill's behalf, and Gunther Gratzer gave a short speech.
Jeff Switzer representing the Canadian Armed Forces, Cathy Dickinson representing the RCMP, Herb Hermans, a Dutch descendant, Steve Sasseville, a volunteer First Responder and Norah Hiraishi representing today's youth raised the flag while Noel Cooper and Diane Stoner led everyone in the singing of "O Canada".
