News - COVID 19

As always, the health and safety of the Membership is the primary objective of the Board. Under the current Federal and Provincial guidelines, all our current facilities and programs will remain closed. To be clear: tennis, pickle ball, the pool, golf course, harbour/marinas will be closed until further notice. Members will still have access to the storage yard but must be vigilant in exercising social distancing.
We urge the members to continue to monitor and execute ALL the COVID-19 protocols as outlined on the Federal and Provincial websites. The Board is relying on these websites to guide the membership. We have purposely not provided announcements with interpretations as this is a very fluid situation. The message is clear. STAY AT HOME as much as possible for your safety and the safety of others. Consult the websites for details on social distancing and self-isolation. Only mandatory trips for groceries and medications are recommended. If you need help to procure these items and do not have family or friends to assist you, call our BVA office and we will provide assistance as required.
These next few weeks will be critical.

The May General Meeting Postponed:
The Board has elected to postpone the May General Meeting due to COVID-19. Appropriate notices and reports will be issued three weeks in advance of the proposed meeting. The earliest we might have a meeting is at the end of June. We are evaluating virtual meeting options, but at this time we feel we need to focus on COVID-19 protocols.

Membership Fees Deferred:
The Directors have completed a budget for the coming year. Clearly this will be greatly affected by COVID-19. We expect there will be reduction to our expenses due to the closure of the facilities however keep in mind there will still be some expenditures.
Annual membership fees will be invoiced as normal and will be ratified once we are able to have a membership meeting. The Board has agreed to postpone the payment of membership fees until September 30th. We will gratefully accept early payments if you wish to do so.

In summary: This will be a summer like no other in our lifetime. We realize living in Bayshore is all about the amenities and understand the frustration regarding the mandated facility closures. We will open them when the Federal and Provincial Governments relax the COVID-19 protocols. It is a small price to pay to save lives and protect the membership from this deadly virus.
We will get past this. Our commitment to staying at home will improve our ability to weather these trying times.
Please adhere to the protocols and stay healthy.
