News - Come to Ramara Council Committee of the Whole (COW) July 16th @ 9.30am

• As you may now be aware there have been some recent unsettling events (experienced by neighbours of a property) that has been purchased by a non-resident of Bayshore Village, and advertised on "airbnb" as a waterfront property, that can accommodate up to 20 vacationers over 5 bedrooms.
• On Canada Day weekend the home was fully occupied, and subsequently, was occupied by a different group of short term renters. The nearby residents experienced cooking fires, requests for use of private docks, and food debris carelessly tossed aside on the grass and under bushes. Although not overtly threatening, the mere presence of large groups of people on a short term basis is worrying for the adjacent residents, especially as we are a no-fence community and some of us are vulnerably aging.
• Lagoon city have historically experienced much more disturbance, than we have over here in Bayshore Village. I describe it as our community experiencing the "thin end of the wedge". We've only been discovered recently to have attractive waterfront properties ripe for such investment, and yet, already are experiencing difficulties.
• An
ad hoc Committee on Short Terms Rentals (STRs) has been ably led by a Lagoon City lady resident, and her Committee has worked hard drafting a By-law designed to regulate the operation of Short Term Rental, Bed and Breakfast facilities in Ramara Township.
• THERE IS A RAMARA COUNCIL COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE (COW) MEETING ON:
• Monday JULY 16TH AT 9.30 AT COUNCIL CHAMBERS IN BRECHIN.
• WHEN THIS IMPORTANT PROPOSED DRAFT BY-LAW WILL BE PRESENTED TO COUNCIL BY THE AD HOC COMMITTEE CHAIRPERSON.
• ALL CONCERNED RESIDENTS ARE URGED TO ATTEND, IN NUMBERS! TO SHOW OUR INTEREST, CONCERN, AND SUPPORT BY BODILY PRESENCE, AND TO INFORM OURSELVES OF THE POSSIBLE
WAY FORWARD FOR BOTH COMMUNITIES RE SHORT TERM RENTALS. We are not permitted to speak at a COW, so numbers speak volumes!!

Respectfully advised and requested by
